Peary Rader was a rounded Physical Culturist who strongly believed in a balance of mind, body and spirit. As the physiques of the defining sport became more outstanding and out of balance with societal ideals, Rader’s concern grew also for the socio-psychological disposition of the athletes themselves. His growing alarm was evident in his August/September, 1952 editorial where he stated:
